Negrense Jonah Sabete delivered one of her steadiest outings of the season to help propel the Petro Gazz Angels to the No. 5 seed in the PVL Reinforced Conference quarterfinals with a 25-21, 27-25, 23-25, 25-21 victory over PLDT High Speed Hitters at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Thursday, November 20.

Sabete, who provided consistent scoring and strong net presence all match long, served as the stabilizing force for the Angels in crucial stretches — particularly when PLDT mounted late-set rallies.

Her timely hits and coverage allowed Petro Gazz to keep control despite the High Speed Hitters pushing the match to a fourth frame.

The Negros Occidental’s Escalante City native ended the match with 12 points.

Lindsey Vander Weide posted a conference-high 35 points.

Brooke Van Sickle added 27, while MJ Phillips chipped in 10 as Petro Gazz outgunned PLDT in attacks, 76-59.

Libero Bangs Pineda reinforced the defense with 23 digs and 10 receptions to earn Best Player honors.

“Nag-cover lang ako sa mga nawawala. ‘Yun ang malaking tulong ko sa kanila,” said Pineda, who has reunited with several former teammates this season.

PLDT was paced by Savi Davison’s 27 points, followed by 21 from Nastya Bavykina.
