A dismissed police officer was arrested for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Bacolod City’s Barangay Cabug before dawn on Wednesday, November 19.
The 46-year-old suspect (name withheld) was found in possession of the stolen motorcycle, which the complainant later positively identified.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) said his arrest stemmed from a carnapping incident involving a motorcycle reported by a 19-year-old resident.
The vehicle was taken while it was parked in front of the victim’s home.
At around 1:10 a.m., operatives of BCPO Police Station 9 apprehended the former officer at Block 117, Lot 11, Deca Homes Subdivision.
Police said the swift coordination between barangay security and responding officers led to the immediate recovery of the motorcycle.
The suspect is currently detained at the police station as authorities prepare charges for violation of Republic Act 10883, also known as the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016./CJ, WDJ
