Negrense Kent Jane Pastrana delivered an all-around performance to help steer the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigresses to a 92-79 victory over the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles in the UAAP Season 88 women’s basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, November 15.

Pastrana came up big in UST’s 12th straight win, finishing with 11 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and three steals as the Tigresses continued their unbeaten run despite the absence of head coach Haydee Ong, who served a one-game suspension after incurring her second technical foul against University of the East (UE) last November 12.

Karylle Sierba also powered the Growling Tigresses with a game-high 21 points, spiked by four triples, while Agatha Bron and Bridgette Santos each added 15 markers.

Camille Malagar topscored for Ateneo with 18 points, reigning MVP Kacey dela Rosa posted a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Kailah Oani added 14 as the Blue Eagles slipped to 7-4.

Meanwhile, defending champion National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs cruised to an 81-48 win over UE Lady Warriors behind a blistering start and balanced scoring.

Ilongga Ann Pingol led NU with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting, alongside seven steals, six rebounds and three assists.

Dindy Medina fired all 16 of her points in the first half.

NU stretched its streak to 11 games and improved to 12-1.
