De La Salle University Lady Spikers star Angel Anne Canino had nothing but high praise for fellow Bacolodnon Caera Celis, calling the young standout a “strong and ready” addition to the La Salle volleyball team.
Canino, who herself rose from Bacolod’s grassroots volleyball scene to become one of the UAAP’s brightest stars, said she personally witnessed Celis’ potential both on and off the court.
“She’s a strong kid, not just in playing but also in her personality. I know she can handle being at La Salle,” Canino said.
“I’m excited for her and, at the same time, I’m happy because we’re neighbors and we got her. We’re very lucky at La Salle to have her,” she added.
Celis recently agreed to join the De La Salle University’s women’s volleyball program for college, cementing one of the most anticipated collegiate commitments of the year.
Celis, a standout from the St. John’s Institute – Hua Ming Falcons, has long been touted as one of Western Visayas’ top high school volleyball prospects.
She is expected to join the Lady Spikers squad following the conclusion of her high school career with St. John’s in two years time./ASC, WDJ
