An 18-year-old man died after being stabbed by his companion during a drinking session outside a business process outsourcing building in Bacolod City’s Barangay Tangub early Saturday morning, November 1.

The victim was identified as Harold Villagante, while the suspect was Kyle Macaranas, both residents of the same barangay.

Station 8 commander, Police Captain Greeky Cayao, said Villagante and his group were reportedly drinking alcoholic beverages when they invited Macaranas to join them.

An initial police investigation revealed that a heated argument broke out between Villagante and Macaranas, which eventually led to a commotion.

During the altercation, the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim.

Villagante was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival due to a fatal stab wound in the chest.

A few hours after the incident, Macaranas voluntarily surrendered to the authorities.

He claimed that the knife used in the stabbing belonged to the victim and insisted that he acted in self-defense.

Cayao said the victim’s family is determined to file a homicide case against the suspect./CJ, WDJ
