The Commission on Elections in the Negros Island Region (Comelec-NIR) has recorded a total of 11,381 voter registration applicants in the first two weeks since the resumption of the nationwide registration drive.

Data released by the regional office showed that 6,858 applicants registered in the first week, followed by another 4,523 registrants from October 27 to 30.

Negros Occidental posted the highest turnout in the region with 7,780 applicants — 4,751 in the first week and 3,309 more in the second.

Negros Oriental followed with 3,049 registrants, while Siquijor logged 272.

Comelec-NIR also reported that nine individuals availed themselves of the Register Anywhere Program (RAP) at the Bacolod City office. The RAP allows qualified voters to register outside their home precincts for greater convenience, particularly for workers, students and residents who frequently travel.

The ongoing voter registration period will continue until May 18, 2026, ahead of the next national and local elections.

Comelec reminded the public that only government-issued IDs will be accepted as proof of identity and residence during registration. Barangay certifications and company IDs will no longer be valid.

For applicants without a valid government ID, they may bring a registered voter to vouch for their residence.

In observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Days, the commission has temporarily suspended registration activities from the afternoon of October 30 until November 2./CJ, WDJ
