Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) Director Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay has ordered a thorough and immediate resolution of the case involving 17-year-old Freya Mae Go, whose body was found lifeless at the Reclamation Area in Bacolod City’s Barangay 12.
In a statement, Ibay expressed confidence in the capability of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to bring justice to the victim, noting that the local police have already developed significant leads in their investigation.
“I believe in the competence of our Bacolod police. They are close to identifying the suspect, and we are determined to see this case solved,” Ibay said, assuring that the regional headquarters is ready to extend all necessary resources and technical assistance to support the probe.
The PRO-NIR chief also emphasized intensified police visibility and patrol operations not only in Bacolod but across the entire Negros Island Region to help prevent similar crimes.
The BCPO earlier created a Special Investigation Task Group to focus solely on identifying and apprehending the perpetrator.
Investigators continue to gather evidence and pursue all possible angles in the case.
Earlier, Station 3 chief Police Captain Francis Depasucat said Go, whose remains were found at the Reclamation Area in Bacolod City on October 22, died of asphyxia due to strangulation.
Depasucat also suggested that Go was possibly sexually assaulted, as semen was discovered on her private parts./CJ, WDJ
