Police operatives arrested two suspects in a drug buy-bust operation that led to the seizure of P476,000 worth of suspected shabu in Bacolod City’s Barangay 10 early Saturday, October 25.
The suspects were identified as alias “Julian,” 33 years old, tagged as a high-value individual; and “Nick,” 20 years old, a street-level individual — both residents of Barangay 10.
The City Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the operation around 3:31 a.m. at Purok Kabuhi.
Authorities confiscated approximately 70 grams of suspected shabu during the operation.
Both suspects are now detained and will face charges for violation of Sections 5 (selling) and 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
SK official nabbed
Meanwhile, a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) official is facing both administrative and criminal charges after being arrested in an anti-drug operation at Barangay 2 in Negros Occidental’s Silay City on Saturday, October 25.
Authorities identified the suspect as alias “Matthew,” 24 years old, a resident of Kalye Onse, and serving as SK Kagawad in the same barangay.
Police operatives recovered from his possession four sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately seven grams, with an estimated market value of P47,000.
The operation was part of the local police’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Silay police chief, Lt. Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca confirmed that the suspect will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Administrative action will also be recommended to the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the SK Federation./CJ, WDJ
