
The San Miguel Beermen are finally on the board in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup, overpowering the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 111-93, on Sunday night, October 19, at the Ynares Center in Montalban.
Four players scored in double-digits for the Beermen, led by CJ Perez, who fired 23 points and Marcio Lassiter, who added 18, including three three-pointers.
Reigning nine-time Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo had a 17-point, 14-rebound double-double.
After settling for a slim 22-19 advantage after the opening period, San Miguel outscored Rain or Shine 24-15 in the pivotal second frame to take complete control of the contest.
They went on to lead by as many as 25 points, 105-80, in the final period.
It’s a breakthrough result for the Beermen, who suffered slim losses to the NLEX Road Warriors (85-84) and the Phoenix Fuel Masters (109-103) in their first two assignments of the conference.
Meanwhile, the Painters dropped to 1-1 after opening their campaign with an overtime win over Meralco.
Adrian Nocum had 17 points to lead the Elasto Painters, while Jhonard Clarito and Gian Mamuyac each scored 16 markers. (ABS-CBN News)
