Election officers in the Negros Island Region (NIR) are urged to schedule satellite voters’ registrations in the barangays for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) next year, an official said yesterday.
Lawyer Lionel Marco Castillano, regional director of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) – NIR said in an interview that the voters’ registration this time aims to reach as many individuals of voting age as possible.
“We are asking the election officers to submit their respective schedules for satellite registration in their barangays as well as in the malls where possible,” Castillano said.
The Comelec will also hold the “register anywhere” program to allow more people to sign up for the BSKE in an area outside their registered home address.
Castillano said the resumption of the voters’ registration, which began on October 20, will run until May 18, 2026. It will be held from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Transfer of registration is now also accepted, Castillano added.
Registration forms are available online for a registrant to scan the QR Code before going to the Comelec office.
The Comelec-NIR official said they are expecting about five to 10 percent increase in the number of registered voters for the BSKE. (PNA)
