There was hardly a resistance as the Creamline Cool Smashers made fast work of the Galeries Highrisers, 25-9, 25-11, 25-15, to make it two wins in a row in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference on Saturday, October 18, at the Capital Arena in Ilagan, Isabela.
After losing their opener, the defending champions are now on a roll, improving to 2-1, while keeping the Highrisers winless in three matches.
They were coming from a four-set win over the Petro Gazz Angels, 25-20, 25-21, 17-25, 25-20.
Creamline wrapped up the volleyball clinic in only one hour and 16 minutes, and even fielded bench players like Rhea Villarete, Rosemarie Vargas, Aleiah Torres, and Mafe Galanza.
Import Courtney Schwan registered 14 points and six digs, as team captain Alyssa Valdez made her presence felt with 10 points and five receptions.
“The first thing I wanna say is you can tell that we respect our opponents. Because when you respect your opponent, you play the full of your ability. Even when you’re winning by a lot, you keep going, you keep pushing,” said Schwan after the game.
Tots Carlos, who just returned from an injury, saw herself rest, only playing Set 1 but still delivering five points.
The Cool Smashers dominated the attacking department, converting a whopping 42 points from spikes, as their rivals only had 17 in those three sets.
Pangs Panaga and Michele Gumabao anchored the net defense, contributing two kill blocks each as the team had a total of nine; in contrast, Galeries only had four.
No Highriser breached double-digit territory, as reinforcement Jelena Cvijović had an underwhelming six-point output. (ABS-CBN News)
