Negrense Alyssa Bertolano stood tall on defense as the Farm Fresh Foxies swept the undermanned Cignal Super Spikers, 25-19, 25-20, 25-16, in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Thursday, October 16.
The Negros Occidental’s Talisay City native libero provided the defensive backbone, finishing with a double-double of 14 excellent digs and 10 excellent receptions to frustrate Cignal’s attackers.
Trisha Tubu led the offensive charge with a game-high 21 points built on 19 attacks and two blocks.
Eli Rousseaux and Frances Molina added 17 and 11 as the Foxies had their first-ever 2-0 start in seven conferences.
The Super Spikers, who dropped to a 0-2 record, missed Alas Pilipinas mainstay Vanie Gandler due to a minor injury, while head coach Shaq delos Santos was sidelined after being hospitalized for the flu.
Evangelia Chantava paced Cignal with 13 points, while star hitter Erika Santos struggled, limited to just two markers in the defeat.
Meanwhile, the PLDT High Speed Hitters continued their winning momentum after sweeping the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19.
Savannah Davison once again spearheaded the attack for PLDT, firing 19 points built on 16 powerful attacks and three blocks as the High Speed Hitters improved to a 2-0 mark.
The High Speed Hitters extended their overall winning streak to 15 matches this season, counting their unbeaten runs in the “On Tour” and Invitational tournaments.
“When you are on the court, you just want to do your best for the team, just do what you were told to do, and I am happy that it panned out,” Davison said during her Player of the Game interview./ASC, WDJ
