‘Paolo’ weakens into severe tropical storm

Tropical cyclone “Paolo” weakened into a severe tropical storm and is now over the West Philippine Sea, state weather bureau Pagasa said yesterday.

At 4:00 p.m. yesterday, it was located over the coastal waters of Santa Cruz, Ilocos Sur, packing winds of 110 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts up to 165 kph.

It is moving west northwestward at 35 kph.

Wind Signal No. 3 remains in effect over some provinces in Northern Luzon.

“Paolo” will continuously move west northwestward over the West Philippine Sea and re-intensify into a typhoon before exiting the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday morning, October 4.
