Filipina tennis star Alex Eala on Wednesday, October 1, advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Suzhou WTA 125 after a grueling 7-6 (5), 6(3)-7, 7-5 victory over Belgium’s Greet Minnen.

Eala needed three hours and 18 minutes to finally oust her veteran opponent.

In the quarterfinals, Eala will play Viktorija Golubic of Serbia, who earlier swept Czech Linda Fruhvirtová, 6-2, 6-0, in their own second round match.

This is the second straight three-set win for Eala, as the Filipina also went the distance against Polish player Katarzyna Kawa, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, in the first round. (ABS-CBN News)
