Bacolod City Tubo Slashers head coach Pao Javelona looked at the brighter side of their 7-22 finish in the 2025 MPBL Season, emphasizing that the team’s vision of giving Bacolodnon players a platform was fulfilled.

“As a Bacolodnon, the vision from the start was simple, to give homegrown players from Bacolod City a shot at playing in the MPBL and, hopefully, help them reach their ultimate dream of making it to the PBA,” Javelona said after their campaign came to a close.

Javelona noted that five Bacolod players joined the recent PBA Draft, with one getting selected — a milestone he considered a victory in itself.

“That alone is already a huge win,” he said.

“This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of individuals who share the same vision as we do. To Destine Javelona and Erik Dy for sticking with the team through the wins and even the losses, I’m truly grateful for all the help you’ve given the players,” he added.

Despite the team’s struggles in the standings, Javelona expressed optimism that this year’s efforts will lay the groundwork for bigger opportunities.

“Our season may have ended, but hoping this is just the beginning of something bigger for our players and for Bacolod City,” he said.
