The 39th Negros Trade Fair has set a new benchmark for local entrepreneurship, raking in a record-breaking P151.5 million in sales while drawing 41,000 visitors during its six-day run in Taguig City from September 23 to 28.
Event chairperson Mary Ann Colmenares announced the results yesterday, citing the fair’s “far-reaching economic, social and environmental impact” not just for Negros Occidental but for the entire Negros Island Region.
The milestone sales included P54.5 million in spot transactions and another P97 million from booked business-to-business deals, reflecting the growing market reach of Negros products, from food and fashion to lifestyle and home furnishings.
“The Negros Trade Fair is more than just a marketplace. It has become a platform that gathers communities, strengthens sustainable livelihoods, and promotes the unique identity of Negrense craftsmanship,” Colmenares said, highlighting the event’s theme “Himbon” or “to gather.”
Now in its 39th year, the fair continues to showcase the resilience and creativity of small and medium enterprises.
Organizers said the record turnout and sales this year confirm the fair’s role as a vital driver of economic growth, providing opportunities for local producers to expand their markets and linkages beyond Negros./CJ, WDJ
