Negrense boxer Rowel Rosia knocked down Denmark Quibido in eight rounds to clinch the Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) super flyweight belt in Putatan, Muntinlupa City.
This was Negros Occidental’s Cadiz City native Rosia’s bounce back after dropping three of his last four matches against foreign-based opponents in the last two years.
Rosia showed his aggressiveness in the opening round as he mauled Quibido with multiple combinations. The latter also had his opportunities with his timely punches.
However, Rosia went for the kill in the eighth round as he unloaded consecutive hits on Quibido to end the title clash.
The 37-year-old Rosia hiked his boxing record to 18-12-2 win-loss-draw, with 10 stoppage wins.
This was the Negrense’s first win since his KO victory over Cris Paulino in 2021.
On the other hand, the 29-year-old Quibido saw his record dropped to 13-5-2, including seven wins by way of stoppages.
He has lost four of his last five matches./ASC, WDJ
