The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) formally welcomed its new director, Police Colonel Dennis Wenceslao, during the turnover of command ceremony held at the NOCPPO headquarters yesterday.
Wenceslao officially succeeded Police Colonel Rainerio de Chavez, who was commended for his dedicated service and outstanding leadership during his tenure as provincial director for two years.
The ceremony was attended by officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP), representatives from the provincial government, and partner stakeholders.
In his inaugural message, Wenceslao expressed humility and gratitude for the trust placed in him.
He vowed to uphold the 7-Point Focus Agenda of the PNP and strengthen collaboration with local government units, private institutions and the community.
“To the people of Negros Occidental, I give you my personal assurance: Your police force is here for you. We are ready to listen, act and serve with the utmost honor and integrity,” Wenceslao said, adding that his leadership would build upon the foundation laid by his predecessor.
Police Colonel Dennis Esguerra, Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region deputy director for administration, presided over the symbolic event, expressing deepest appreciation to De Chavez for his remarkable achievements in law enforcement, crime prevention and community engagement.
“At the same time, we warmly welcome Police Colonel Wenceslao, whose proven track record and professionalism will surely bring NOCPPO to greater heights,” Esguerra added.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who also delivered a message during the ceremony, praised the contributions of De Chavez and expressed confidence in Wenceslao’s leadership.
“This turnover is not only a moment of gratitude but also of renewed commitment. We trust that under Wenceslao, the NOCPPO will continue to strengthen the fight against criminality, illegal drugs and threats to public safety,” Lacson said.
The governor assured the full support of the provincial government to the new provincial director and emphasized that peace and order can only be achieved through strong partnerships between the police, local government units, and the communities they serve./CJ, WDJ
