The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Negros Occidental has identified 980 households for inclusion in the conduct of the 2025 National Migration Survey (NMS) until September 5.
PSA-Negros Occidental officer-in-charge Diesah Biaoco said in a statement yesterday they have selected 491 sample households in Negros Occidental and 489 others in Bacolod City.
“They are being interviewed by the PSA-hired statistical researchers and supervisors deployed in various areas across the province and the city,” she said.
The 14 personnel include two team supervisors and 12 statistical researchers.
“All personnel involved in this survey are required to keep in strict confidentiality any information obtained during the survey that pertains to any household or individual person,” Biaoco said.
The 2025 NMS has a national sample of about 45,000 housing units/households deemed sufficient to provide reliable estimates at the national and regional level.
The sample housing units are selected from the 2023 geo-enabled master sample for household-based surveys of the PSA.
The 2025 NMS is designed to provide baseline information on both internal and international migration in the country.
It specifically aims to estimate international and inter-regional migration flows and major migration streams, examine the different types of migration, and the characteristics of internal and international migrants, and to determine the levels, patterns, and processes of migration.
The survey results will provide information on the mobility of the Philippine population to assist policymakers and program managers in evaluating and designing strategies for improving services and assistance to people abroad or moving within the country.
The 2025 NMS is the second round after the first implementation in May 2018.
In February last year, the PSA Board, through Resolution No. 16, approved the conduct of NMS every 10 years starting 2025. (PNA)
