The U16 Boys Pintaflores Cup, San Carlos City’s longest-running football tournament, will return to its original schedule this year for its 17th staging this October, organizers announced.
The decision, according to the local government and the Pintaflores Foundation Inc., aims to improve the level of competition and provide a more action-packed experience for players and spectators.
The event is organized in coordination with the City Sports Office and the San Carlos City Negros Football Club.
The tournament will once again bring together youth teams from across the Visayas, Mindanao and Luzon, offering an opportunity for players to compete against and learn from different playing styles.
Organizers expect that moving the competition back to its original date will draw higher-caliber teams, leading to more intense matches.
The announcement follows recent local football success, highlighted by Classico de San Carlos FC’s victory in the 2025 Negros Occidental Regional Football Association Champions League U16 division, where the team swept individual awards.
Details on participating teams and the official tournament schedule will be released in the coming weeks./ASC, WDJ
