Police are investigating the death of an aeronautics student whose body was found at Barangay Salvacion in Negros Occidental’s Murcia town early yesterday morning, August 10.
The victim was identified as Clyde Abaa, a second-year aeronautics student and a resident of Bacolod City’s Barangay Granada.
According to Murcia police chief Captain Honey Labaro, a concerned citizen discovered Abaa’s body in a sugarcane field past 5:00 a.m.
The victim sustained injuries to his leg and head, as well as a broken arm, Labaro said.
A helmet, a broken plate and motorcycle debris were recovered from the scene, leading to suspicions of a possible traffic accident.
However, the motorcycle reportedly used by Abaa has not been recovered, leaving investigators to consider other possible scenarios.
His uncle, Rodolfo Lasquete, said on Saturday night, August 9, Abaa traveled with his cousin to Murcia on a motorcycle.
Upon arrival, he borrowed the vehicle to meet a friend but never returned.
Authorities are now working to determine the exact cause of death and locate the missing motorcycle.
The investigation remains ongoing./CJ, WDJ
