High-flying wingman Rhenz Abando is taking his talents back to South Korea after a year.

Abando is set to make his return to the Korean Basketball League, as he rejoins his former squad, the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters (formerly Anyang KGC), for the upcoming season.

The team announced Abando’s return on its official social media accounts on Tuesday, July 29.

Last May 2024, Abando announced his parting ways with the team after spending two seasons with the Red Boosters.

The 27-year-old helped lead the team to a KBL championship in the 2022-2023 Season.

Abando averaged 8.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and a block per game in his first season in the KBL.

Abando is coming off a successful 2025 William Jones Cup championship run with Strong Group Athletics-Philippines earlier this month.

The NCAA Season 97 MVP and Rookie of the Year was initially listed as part of the Gilas Pilipinas pool for the upcoming FIBA ASIA Cup.

However, Gilas head coach Tim Cone said he is no longer in contention for the Final 12 after missing practices due to the overlapping schedule with the Jones Cup.

The Red Boosters are hopeful Abando’s return will help the team, after it finished sixth in the 2024-2025 Season. (ABS-CBN News)
