The Land Transportation Office in Western Visayas (LTO-6) has summoned the registered motorcycle rider seen in a viral video performing a dangerous “Superman” stunt in Negros Occidental’s Don Salvador Benedicto town.
The stunt, which involved the rider stretching flat across while riding a speeding motorcycle, is a blatant case of reckless driving under Section 48 of Republic Act 4136, the LTO-6 said.
A show cause order has been issued, requiring the vehicle owner to submit a sworn explanation within five days.
Failure to comply may lead to the suspension or revocation of both the driver’s license and vehicle registration.
LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan II condemned the stunt, reiterating the agency’s zero-tolerance policy on dangerous driving, in alignment with the directives of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon and LTO chief Atty. Greg Pua, Jr.
Assistant Regional Director Jeck Conlu added that stunts like the “Superman” are not only illegal but extremely hazardous — especially on winding mountain roads such as those in Don Salvador Benedicto.
LTO-6 also vowed to intensify its monitoring of social media and strengthen coordination with local authorities to crack down on similar road violations throughout Western Visayas.
The agency has committed to an in-depth review of all evidence before making a final decision on any penalties./CJ, WDJ
