The PLDT High Speed Hitters remained unbeaten in the 2025 PVL on Tour after an impressive victory against the Petro Gazz Angels on Saturday evening, July 12, at the Capital Arena in Ilagan City, Isabela.

The High Speed Hitters made quick work of the reigning All-Filipino champions, 25-22, 25-15, 25-16, to improve to 2-0 in Group A of the competition.

Jovie Prado earned Player of the Game honors after putting up 12 points on 11 kills, while Majoy Baron matched her output and had three of PLDT’s 10 blocks.

Kianna Dy also reached double-digits, with 10 points.

“‘Yung mindset ko ngayon is kailangan ko lang talagang mag-focus at maging present at all times, lalo ngayon na wala ‘yung mga kailangan aming players na pumupukpok para sa amin,” said Prado, who stepped up in the absence of key players including national team standouts Dell Palomata and Alleiah Malaluan, and prolific open hitter Savi Davison.

“Mas kailangan ko lang mag-step up. Doon lang ako naka-focus,” she added.

From a tight 23-22 count in the opening set, the High Speed Hitters took control thanks to their net defense, as Baron rejected Aiza Maizo-Pontillas from the net to secure Set 1 for her team.

PLDT rode that momentum to dominate the second frame, which saw them benefit from Petro Gazz’s 11 unforced errors.

They continued to cruise in Set 3, taking a comfortable 23-15 advantage when Baron blocked Jonah Sabete.

A kill by veteran Myla Pablo temporarily stalled the High Speed Hitters, but Baron responded with back-to-back hits to wrap up the match.

Petro Gazz dropped to 1-2 in the tournament.

The team, which is missing national team players Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips, got 16 points from Pablo in the loss. (ABS-CBN News)
