Fil-American Jordan Clarkson has joined the New York Knicks after finalizing a contract buyout with the Utah Jazz.

ESPN Senior NBA Insider Shams Charania recently revealed the development, as Clarkson cleared free agency waivers.

The former Gilas Pilipinas standout had a post on X (formerly Twitter) as the team announced his joining.

The 2021 NBA Sixth Man of the Year recorded averages of 16.2 points, 3.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds in over 26 minutes with the Jazz last season, also leading the big league in points off the bench at 4,589 since 2020.

Clarkson, a lethal scorer in the guard position, is expected to help the cause of current Knicks stars and All-NBA Second and Third Team members Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, among others.

He has career averages of 16 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists over 27.7 minutes in 753 games in 11 seasons as he suited up for the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Utah Jazz.

Aside from the 6-foot-3 ex-Jazz, coach Mike Brown was also hired by the Knicks, succeeding Tom Thibodeau.

“His [Mike Brown’s] experience leading the bench during the NBA finals, winning four titles as an assistant coach and his ability to grow and develop players will all help us as we aim to bring a championship to New York for our fans,” said Knicks President Leon Rose.

New York finished third in the Eastern Conference last 2024-2025 season, posting a 51-31 win-loss record, and bowed out of the Semifinals after losing to the Indiana Pacers, 4-3.
