The futsal scene in Negros Occidental is heating up as the Negros Occidental Regional Football Association (NORFA) prepares for its much-awaited Provincial Qualifiers this July, bringing together the region’s top young talents and seasoned players for a two-day showcase of skill and competition.
The qualifiers follow the successful NORFA Cluster Elimination of Champions League Futsal Girls held from May 31 to June 1 — an initiative underscoring NORFA’s commitment to the development of women’s futsal.
The tournament also serves as a timely boost to local preparations as Negros Occidental’s Victorias City readies to co-host the historic inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup in November.
The upcoming Provincial Qualifiers will take place on the following dates:
* July 26 — Competition opens for the Born 2008 and Born 2012 categories
* July 27 — Action continues with the Born 2010 and Women’s Open divisions
These matches will not only determine the top teams in the province but also help NORFA identify future futsal standouts who may represent Negros Occidental in higher-level competitions.
The qualifiers are part of a broader grassroots development program aimed at expanding the sport’s reach and elevating its standards across the province.
With teams already tested through the earlier elimination rounds, the provincial stage is expected to deliver high-level competition and drama.
Enthusiasts and supporters from across the province are expected to flock to the venue, eager to witness the next generation of futsal talent in action.
As the countdown to the World Cup continues, the growing excitement around local futsal events highlights Negros Occidental’s rising status as a futsal hub — not just in the Philippines, but in the global community./ASC, WDJ
