The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts claimed the championship in the 1st SK President Ladislao Villanueva Volleyball League held recently in Negros Occidental’s Toboso town.

The Thunderbolts bucked a tough challenge from the Cadiz squad to score a victory and claimed the championship in the one-day volleyball tournament.

Rhose Vianne Almendralejo spearheaded the attack for the Thunderbolts, while she also got much needed support from Alexa Bertolano and Brianna Nikola Ang.

Also part of the Thunderbolts squad are Edz Escultura, Jan Rose Bulak, Janquelin Mayang, Zelver Banguaio, Memielle Letran, Ana Ysabelle Hermosura, and Kara Feril.

On their way to the championship round, the Thunderbolts swept their elimination round matches against Cadiz, Toboso, Escalante, and Vista, before taking down Toboso in the semifinals.

The Thunderbolts squad was handled by coaches Rommel Taniñas and Braham Cadeliña.

Jose Montalbo served as the team manager.

“Facing a team that are experienced is a good test for us as we prepare for the upcoming volleyball competitions,” Montalbo told Watchmen Daily Journal yesterday.

“For us, we just want to continue competing and improving in every tournament that we play in,” he said.

“Any competition is an opportunity for the players to get better with their skills,” he added./ASC, WDJ
