Negros Oriental Governor Manuel Sagarbarria outlined his priority projects for his first 100 during his oathtaking on Monday, June 30.

Speaking to reporters after his inaugural, Sagarbarria said some of the projects are the transfer of a drive-thru flea market; sports complex renovation; continuation of improvements at the Ninoy Aquino Freedom Park, including an exercise space for senior citizens; and the relocation of the Tabo sa PAO (Provincial Agriculture Office).

“The biggest program, but I don’t think we could do it within 100 days, is the transfer of the taboan [market]. I will be making a new concept here in Dumaguete City, somewhere in Barangay Batinguel,” Sagarbarria said.

The province will look for a property at the diversion road in Batinguel where a drive-thru market will be established, he added.

Sagarbarria said sellers from the current “tabo” in Barangay Piapi will be relocated as they will be displaced by a multi-million medical city project.

Once operational, the new drive-thru flea market will reduce traffic in the city and generate more income for the farmers who sell their produce directly to the public.

It will also benefit residents in outskirt villages as they will no longer have to go to the city to buy their needs.

Sagarbarria took his oath before Executive Judge Rose Marie Paras at the convention center, together with other officials of the province and its capital, Dumaguete City.

The other officials who took their oaths were Vice Governor Cezanne Fritz Diaz, Second District Representative Ma. Isabel Sagarbarria, Third District Representative Janice Degamo, 10 provincial board members, Dumaguete Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria, Vice Mayor Estanislao Alviola and 10 councilors. (PNA)
