The Negros Occidental provincial government is set to expand its support for education in 2026, with new scholarship programs in the making to benefit more young Negrenses.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II said there is now an unappropriated amount reserved for the scholarship program, ensuring continued assistance to deserving students.

Diaz added that they are also planning to introduce additional scholarship programs specifically for the youth.

This year, a total of 515 incoming scholars signed a memorandum of agreement with Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

These students will join more than 1,000 active scholars currently being supported by the province.

“This initiative is part of our long-term goal to invest in the future of Negros Occidental by helping our youth get access to quality education,” Diaz said.

The scholarship program covers tuition assistance, monthly allowances and other educational needs for qualified students, especially those from low-income families.

It is also seen as a way to promote academic excellence and help students reach their full potential.

The provincial government continues to prioritize education with the goal of producing skilled, educated and empowered Negrenses./CJ, WDJ
