The low pressure area (LPA) near Luzon now has a medium chance of becoming a storm, according to the state weather bureau.
Pagasa said the LPA was spotted 600 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora at 3:00 p.m.
The weather bureau it might become a storm within the next 24 hours. It will be assigned the local name “Auring” when it does.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will affect Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The areas including Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro will experience heavy, intense monsoon rains.
Occasional rains will hit Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Cavite, Batangas, Romblon, Palawan, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Antique, Negros Occidental, Guimaras, and Northern Samar.
The rest of Central Luzon, rest of Bicol Region, rest of Mimaropa, rest of Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region, La Union, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon will see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
The rest of Mindanao and Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Pagasa warned areas that will be hit by intense rains or severe thunderstorms might experience flash floods or landslides. (ABS-CBN News)
