The Department of Education (DepEd)-Negros Occidental Division is anticipating an additional 1,500 new enrollees for the upcoming School Year 2025-2026.

Ian Arnold Arnaez, DepEd-Provincial Schools Division spokesperson, announced that this expected rise in student numbers will affect schools under their jurisdiction across the province.

With the additional enrollees expected this year, the division is preparing to accommodate the growing student population.

Last school year, enrollment under DepEd-Negros Occidental reached a total of 324,000 students.

It is noted that each city in Negros Occidental has its own schools division, except for Talisay City, which falls under the Negros Occidental Schools Division along with the municipalities.

Arnaez also expressed optimism about the preparations for the opening of classes scheduled for Monday, June 16, describing the efforts as successful.

The Provincial Schools Division held its kick-off program at Binalbagan National High School, while individual schools conducted their own activities in support of the enrollment period.

The enrollment period is set from June 9 to 13, providing ample time for students and parents to complete the registration process./JB, WDJ
