A 36-year-old pregnant nurse died along with her six-month-old unborn child after being hit by two vehicles while crossing the national highway at Barangay Taloc in Negros Occidental’s Bago City around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1.

The victim, identified only as “Angela,” was married and a resident of the village.

According to the Bago City Police, Angela was on her way to report for duty at the Bago City Health Unit when the incident occurred in Purok Proper North.

She was crossing in a pedestrian lane when she was struck by a vehicle driven by “Philip,” 30 years old, a resident of Bacolod City’s Barangay Cabug.

The impact caused Angela to be thrown into the opposite lane, where she was hit again by another vehicle driven by “Salvador,” 59 years old, a resident of Pulupandan town.

Angela was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The unborn child she was carrying, six months into pregnancy, also did not survive.

Both drivers are currently in custody at the Bago City Police Station as authorities continue their investigation into the fatal accident./JB, WDJ
