The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Bacolod City was alarmed after two separate fires claimed the lives of three minors within the span of just a few days.

BFP-Bacolod head Fire Superintendent Jenny Mae Masip revealed that both fires were caused by unattended candles.

In both cases, Masip said the young victims were left alone inside their homes with no adult supervision at the time of the incidents.

The BFP has once again reminded parents and guardians to be vigilant, especially when it comes to fire safety at home.

Authorities are also set to coordinate with barangay officials to further strengthen fire safety campaigns and conduct fire safety lectures within communities.

On May 20, two siblings — an eight-year-old and a six-year-old — perished in a fire that broke out at Purok Lison in the city’s Barangay 1.

Just four days later, on Saturday, May 24, a one-year-old girl died in another fire incident at Purok Active in Barangay Mandalagan./JB, WDJ
