The Lyceum of the Philippines Lady Pirates battled back from a set down to defeat the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Lady Stags, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-15, in the NCAA Season 100 women’s volleyball at the San Andres Gym in Manila on Saturday, May 24.

Negrense Joan Doguna led the offense with 17 points laced with six digs as the also-ran Lady Pirates notched their second consecutive victory to improve to an 8-8 record.

Rookie Angelica Cruz finished with 16 points anchored by 12 attacks and four blocks.

Johna Dolorito flirted with a triple-double outing of 14 markers, nine digs and nine receptions, while Ashley Muchillas chipped in 12 markers for Lyceum.

The Lady Pirates still have two remaining games in the elimination round against the Arellano University Lady Chiefs on Tuesday, May 27, and defending champions College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers on Friday, May 30.

Regardless, if the Lady Pirates win both, they still won’t advance, as all the current top four teams already have at least 11 wins.

On the other hand, the Lady Stags absorbed their fifth straight loss to go down to a 7-9 record.

Meanwhile, the San Beda University Lady Red Spikers swept the Emilio Aguinaldo College Lady Generals, 25-16, 26-24, 25-17.
