Bacolodnon swimmer Coraline Montalbo captured two medals in the recently-concluded Dragons’ Den International Invitational at UWC East Campus in Singapore.
Montalbo, who is representing the country overseas for the second time, captured the gold medal in the 13-14 girls category of 200-meter butterfly with a personal best time of 2:44.59.
Montalbo also had a bronze medal in the 200-m individual medley (2:46.58).
She fell short of a podium finish in the 100-m butterfly event (1:12.46), good for fourth place.
Her medal performances came after she was recently included in the national training pool under the supervision of the Philippine Finswimming Federation Inc.
Montalbo, a many-time gold medal winner while representing Bacolod Tay Tung High School in various competitions, is now regularly training in Metro Manila as part of the pool.
Weeks ago, Montalbo captured two gold medals in the Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation National Inter-School Games held in Manila.
She emerged on top in the girls’ 14- to 16-year-old 200-m butterfly event, with a record-setting time of two minutes and 45 seconds.
Montalbo also captured a gold medal in the girls’ 14- to 16-year-old 100-meter butterfly event earlier in the competition./ASC, WDJ
