The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Western Visayas (LTO-6) is poised to expand its services and enhance road safety initiatives with the opening of four additional district offices in Iloilo and Negros Occidental.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. recently signed laws for the establishment of district offices in Pototan and San Dionisio in Iloilo, as well as in Ilog in Negros Occidental.

In San Miguel, Iloilo, the current extension office will be converted into a district office.

“The development is a major leap forward in the agency’s mission to bring essential services closer to the people and champion road safety across Western Visayas,” LTO-6 Regional Director Gaudioso Geduspan II said in a statement on Wednesday, April 23.

Meanwhile, Geduspan said the LTO-6 is seeking the revocation of the driver’s license of Indian national Jagpreet Singh, who was driving the red Toyota Innova that plowed into a Good Friday procession in Bacolod City, killing three devotees and injuring 17 others.

“We issued a show-cause order against the Indian national because he yielded a positive result in the alcohol test. This is a clear case of reckless driving,” he said.

On Tuesday night, April 22, Singh, 37 years old, was released from the custody of the Bacolod City Police Office Station 5 after paying a bail of P60,000, Traffic Management Unit chief Lt. Colonel Ramel Sarona said.

Singh is facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, multiple physical injury, and damage to property filed by the police, based on the affidavits of 16 complainants, before the City Prosecutor’s Office. (PNA)
