Daegu forces do-or-die game in KBL q’finals

Negrense Samjosef Belangel came alive in the second half as the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus defeated the Suwon KT Sonicboom, 79-75, in Game 4 of the Korean Basketball League (KBL) quarterfinals at the Daegu Gymnasium.

After being held scoreless in the opening half, Belangel ignited in the last two quarters to end up with a team-high 19 points as the Pegasus tied the best-of-five series at 2-2.

“My teammates always believed in me and worked hard, so in that regard, I had a good opportunity in the second half,” the former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles guard said after the game.

“I always needed my teammates to help me make a shot. I was able to play well in the second half because of that belief,” he said.

“This is a victory that we achieved because everyone worked so well together,” he added.

Andrew Nicholson also finished with 19 points to go with nine rebounds.

Kim Nak-hyun contributed 18 markers.

Shin Seung-min ended up with 11 markers for the Pegasus.

Rayshaun Hammonds tallied a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Moon Jeong-Hyeon and Heo Hoon had 15 and 10 points, respectively, while JD Cagulangan ended up scoreless to go with two steals and one assist for Suwon./ASC, WDJ
