Anti-illegal drug operatives seized some P27.2 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Sibulan, Negros Oriental yesterday that also led to the arrest of one high-value suspect.

Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO), told the Philippine News Agency that the operation stemmed from “lengthy intelligence efforts” targeting the suspect.

Elgin Caday Rodriguez, 50 years old, a resident of Barangay 2 in Bais City, was arrested around 6:00 a.m. in Purok 6, Barangay Maslog.

Police recovered roughly four kilos of suspected shabu from his possession.

Personnel from the local police, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Provincial Intelligence Unit carried out the anti-illegal drugs operation.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the “shabu” and its source, Polinar said. (PNA)
