Negrense Samjosef Belangel and the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus prevailed over the Suwon KT Sonicboom, 83-74, in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) at the Daegu Gymnasium over the weekend.

The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles guard finished with nine points, three rebounds, two assists, and a steal as the Pegasus notched their fourth consecutive win for a 28-25 win-loss slate.

Andrew Nicholson top-scored with 24 points to go with seven rebounds, while Youssopha Ndoye had a near double-double of nine points and 11 rebounds for the Pegasus.

“The players did a good job of executing what they had prepared. That part came out well in the first half,” Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk said after the game.

“There were a few turnovers, but the defense was still good,” he said.

“What’s unfortunate is that we couldn’t perform consistently when the score difference was big, but I am satisfied that we were able to show a good performance to the home fans. I plan to do my best in the remaining games,” he added.

Heo Hoon finished with 22 points to lead the Sonicboom.

Park Sun-jae added 14 markers, while JD Cagulangan contributed eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals as they dropped to a 32-21 record.

Meanwhile, Carl Tamayo tallied 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists as the Changwon LG Sakers (34-19) scored an 83-76 victory over the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus (31-21).

Javi Gomez de Liaño contributed 19 points, five rebounds and one assist as the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters (24-29) defeated the top-seed Seoul SK Knights (40-12), 83-76./ASC, WDJ
