A morning jog turned tragic after a pickup truck accidentally collided with three joggers in Bacolod City’s Barangay Tangub yesterday.
The incident, which occurred around 6:00 a.m., resulted in one fatality and left two others injured.
The woman, a 53-year-old resident of Barangay Sum-ag, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two other joggers, both women aged 53 and 55, sustained injuries but are now in stable condition, Lt. Colonel Ramel Sarona, head of the Bacolod City Police Office-Traffic Management Unit, said.
Initial investigations revealed that the pickup truck driver was attempting to turn left to enter a nearby subdivision when the accident occurred.
The joggers, who had momentarily stopped to take pictures, were struck by the vehicle.
The driver claimed he was temporarily blinded, preventing him from seeing the joggers on the road.
He has been temporarily detained at Bacolod City Police Station 8 as authorities continue their investigation./JB, WDJ
