A 60-year-old Chinese businessman was allegedly shot to death at Barangay Bubog in Negros Occidental’s Talisay City yesterday morning.
Talisay police chief, Lt. Colonel Salvador Trono, said the suspect is the brother of the deceased victim.
Trono said the 51-year-old suspect was barred by the victim from entering his office after they settled a dispute in January.
The suspect talked to his brother at the office around 11:30 a.m. yesterday.
A gunshot was heard.
Trono said the businessman sustained a gunshot wound to the head, while his brother was shot in the chest.
“The other victim is undergoing medical treatment,” Trono explained.
The suspect was apprehended, while the firearm used in the crime was recovered after being discarded behind the crime scene.
Trono further revealed that the suspect and the victim had a long-standing conflict, which began in January 2023.
The dispute led to a previous altercation that was mediated by the barangay.
“Based on the barangay’s report, the suspect assaulted his older brother, who is now the victim,” Trono said.
The police are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the shooting./JB, WDJ
