Negrense Samjosef Belangel and the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus suffered an 89-80 defeat to the Wonju DB Promy in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) at the Wonju Sports Complex on Thursday night, February 27.
The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles standout finished with 14 points, five assists, three steals, and a rebound for the Pegasus, which dropped to a 20-18 record.
“There were too many turnovers in the first half, and above all,” Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk said.
“Due to a part that was not right in defense, we gave the opponent a shot,” he added.
Omari Spellman top-scored for DB Promy with 24 points and nine rebounds.
Filipino-American guard Ethan Alvano added 20 markers and seven assists as they improved to an 18-21 record.
Meanwhile, Andrew Nicholson top-scored for the Pegasus with 23 points and eight rebounds.
Kim Jun-il added 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists, while Jeong Seong-woo had 10 markers.
Meanwhile, Carl Tamayo and the Changwon LG Sakers climbed to solo second place after a 74-62 victory over the Seoul Samsung Thunders at the Changwon Gymnasium on Thursday night.
The former University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons forward finished with four points, four rebounds and two assists in close to 15 minutes of action as the LG Sakers improved to a 25-14 win-loss slate.
Assem Marei led the way for the LG Sakers with 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Heo Il-young added 12 markers, while Jeong In-deok contributed 11 markers in the fourth consecutive win.
Lee Won-seok top-scored for the Thunders with 16 points.
Glenn Robinson added 15 markers, while Filipino guard Justin Gutang ended with eight markers as they dropped to a 12-26 record./ASC, WDJ
