The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts’ elementary girls volleyball team clinched the crown in the Bacolod City Provincial Meet 2024 at the Montalbo Gym in Bacolod over the weekend.
Led by the tournament’s MVP and 1st Best Middle Blocker Mari Cacho, the Thunderbolts claimed the crown with a 25-13, 25-13 domination over Silay in the championship match.
Also receiving citations from Thunderbolts are Samantha Valenciano (2nd Best Middle Blocker), Chinnie Millama (Best Setter) and Cielo Palabrica (Best Libero).
Other members of the team are Jeydi Crystal Panisales, Mhegan Ordaniel, Chloe Depalubos, Lorraine Lim, Jana Cadeliña, and Maxiane Busel.
Serving as head coach for the elementary team is Roberto Calamba, Jr.
Jose Montalbo served as team manager.
“Of course, I am proud of their performance. All the hard work we are doing every day in training has come out in this tournament,” Calamba said.
“Hopefully, we can continue this until we reach Palarong Pambansa,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Thunderbolts’ secondary girls volleyball team also emerged as champions after a 25-9, 25-17, 23-25, 25-15 victory over Negros Occidental in the finals.
Rhose Vianne Almendralejo was later named as Most Valuable Player and Best Open Hitter, Brianna Ang was awarded as 1st Best Middle Blocker and Best Server, Camila Amor Bartolome as 2nd Best Middle Blocker, Alexa Bertolano as Best Opposite Hitter, Rhea Tomas as Best Libero, and Jan Rose Bulak as Best Setter.
Also part of the Thunderbolts squad are Czarina Dosayla, Joenil Anne Ramos, Ana Hermosura, Abigael Labajo, Caitlyn Espinosa, and Edz Karylle Escultura.
Serving as head coach is Ian Macariola.
The Bacolod Tay Tung secondary and elementary girls volleyball teams will next compete in the WVRAA Meet scheduled from March 1 to 8 in Antique./ASC, WDJ
