Canlaon City Mayor Jose Chubasco Cardenas has assured the public of transparency and accountability in handling operations in response to the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.

The mayor welcomed independent investigations and emphasized that the Incident Management System meticulously records all transactions and financial activities related to disaster response efforts.

“We understand the concerns raised regarding the expenses and assistance provided in response to the Mt. Kanlaon incident. Transparency and accountability remain at the forefront of our operations,” Cardenas said in a press statement.

He emphasized that a dedicated Finance Section tracks all funding sources, donations and expenditures.

A detailed transparency report on resource allocation is available for public review.

He urged those with inquiries to contact the Finance Section directly.

The statement comes as certain quarters questioned where and how the funds and donations were spent.

Despite this, Cardenas maintained that through their collective efforts, Canlaon City has kept zero casualties during this challenging time. (PNA)
