The Bacolod City government is in the process of verifying the title number of a property it purchased in Barangay Granada.

City legal officer Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu said the property in question is part of the land acquired by the city government from the Ledesma family.

Chiu explained that during the purchase, a certification from the Department of Agrarian Reform was presented, confirming that the property was not covered by the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

This clarification comes after social media posts from alleged dummy accounts claimed that the property is under CARP.

However, upon verification, Chiu noted that the lot numbers in the posts do not match the documents in the city’s possession.

The property spans approximately 74 hectares and is owned by a private company.

Chiu also clarified that the names mentioned in the social media posts are not indicated on the official title.

He reiterated that all properties offered for sale to the city are confirmed to be free from CARP coverage.

Furthermore, the city holds a certification from the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office to support this.

Currently, the city plans to verify the matter directly with the concerned offices to ensure the legitimacy of the transaction./WDJ
