The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has reported a 13 percent decline in the number of crimes last year.

From January 1 to December 31, 2024, a total of 3,885 incidents were documented, 586 incidents lower than the 4,471 incidents reported in 2023.

This notable reduction underscores NOCPPO’s commitment to enhance public safety and uphold law and order in the province.

“The reduction is attributed to the sustained efforts of the provincial police force, which include increased patrols, community engagement initiatives and proactive law enforcement tactics designed to prevent criminal activities before they arise,” the NOCPPO said in a statement.

Collaboration with local government units, community organizations and other stakeholders has been vital in creating a safer environment for the Negrenses.

“Enhanced awareness campaigns, improved coordination among law enforcement agencies, and the implementation of security measures during key periods, such as holidays and festivals, have also played a role in the overall drop in crime rates,” it added.

The reduction in crime incidents is a positive indicator of the effectiveness of the police’s crime prevention strategies and reflects the growing trust and cooperation between the community and law enforcement.

“Let’s continue the momentum towards the betterment of the province,” NOCPPO director, Colonel Rainerio de Chavez said./WDJ
