Negrense Samjosef Belangel delivered a career game as the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus dominated the Seoul Samsung Thunders, 114-77, in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium on Saturday, January 4.

The Negrense guard finished with a career-high 36 points, including six three-point conversions, to go with eight assists, three rebounds and three steals as the Pegasus improved to a 14-10 mark.

“Belangel put on a one-man show,” Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk said in a post-game interview.

“The players are focused from the beginning. Their will to win is also strong, that is why we started well,” he added.

Andrew Nicholson added 22 markers before suffering an ankle injury in the second half.

Youssopha Ndoye had a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Kim Nak-hyeon ended with 14 points for Daegu.

“Nicholson slightly injured his ankle, and it seems like he won’t be able to play in the next game,” Kang said.

“That is why this victory is a bittersweet one for us,” he added.

Lee Jung-hyun finished with 21 points to lead the Thunders.

Filipino guard Justin Gutang added 12 markers as they suffered their second straight defeat to drop to a 7-17 record.

Meanwhile, Miguel Oczon and the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus scored an 85-64 rout over the Carl Tamayo-less Changwon LG Sakers at the Ulsan Dongcheon Gymnasium.
