Police seized nearly P12 million worth of shabu in a series of buy-bust operations targeting five drug suspects, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported.
“Most probably, the supply is intended for the new year activities of their customers,” Lt. Colonel Lester Leada, deputy city director for operations, said in an interview.
Each gram of shabu is valued at P6,800 based on the standard drug price used by law enforcement.
On Monday morning, December 30, 2024, Police Station 2 agents arrested two suspects, identified by their aliases “Antonette,” 37 years old; and “Shayne Marie,” 35 years old, during a buy-bust in Purok Paglaum, Barangay 17.
The suspects were found in possession of 500 grams of shabu valued at P3.4 million.
In Barangay Taculing, agents of the City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested two more suspects, alias “Sean Paul,” 19 years old, and alias “John Mark,” 24 years old, on December 29.
Police recovered 250 grams of shabu worth P1.7 million during the operation.
Earlier the same evening, Police Station 8 officers apprehended “Kyle,” 20 years old, from Barangay Mambulac in Silay City during a raid in Barangay Tangub.
The operation yielded a kilogram of shabu worth P6.8 million concealed in a plastic pack.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspects from the three operations were likely sourcing the illegal drugs from the same supplier, the BCPO said.
The suspects are facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (PNA)
