Negrense Samjosef Belangel and the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus returned to their winning ways in the Korean Basketball League with a 76-73 escape over the Goyang Sono Skygunners at the Daegu Gymnasium on Saturday, December 28.
The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles guard finished with 12 points, five assists, three steals, and one rebound before being held late in the game due to an undisclosed injury.
“Belangel’s injury doesn’t seem that bad. I didn’t want to overdo it and make it worse,” Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk said of the Filipino guard’s benching late in the game.
“I had [Kim] Nak-hyun and [Jung] Seong-woo finish off the game for us,” he said.
“At least [Kim] Nak-hyun did it at the end with a timely three-pointer,” he added.
Andrew Nicholson led the way with 31 points and eight rebounds.
Kim added 11 markers as the Pegasus improved to a 13-9 win-loss slate.
Alpha Cava tallied a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, Lee Jae-do and Lee Jong-hyun added 15 markers apiece, and Jun Lee-Keun contributed 13 as Goyang dropped to an 8-14 mark./ASC, WDJ
