The Capital1 Solar Spikers recovered from a set down to defeat the Nxled Chameleons, 21-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-18, in the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Saturday night, November 30.
Negrense Patty Jane Orendain served as a spark off the bench with 10 points, while Heather Guino-o and Leila Cruz contributed 21 and 17, respectively, as the Solar Spikers improved to a 1-3 win-loss slate.
Despite their struggling start in the season-ending conference, Guino-o remained optimistic about the Solar Spikers’ chances, emphasizing the importance of rigorous training and resilience.
“Sobrang saya sa feeling kasi naipakita na namin kung ano ‘yung mga pinaghihirapan namin,” Guino-o said in her Player of the Game interview.
“Mas magpu-push pa kami sa training para makakuha pa ng maraming panalo,” she added.
Chiara Permentilla continued her solid performance for the Chameleons with 23 points, while Jaila Atienza and Lycha Ebon contributed nine and six points, respectively, as they dropped to a 0-4 mark.
Meanwhile, the Farm Fresh Foxies barged to the win-column with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-14 upset over the Akari Power Chargers.
Louie Romero showcased her effective playmaking to finish with 19 excellent sets to go with five points as the Foxies halted their three-game losing skid to improve to a 1-3 win-loss slate.
Trisha Tubu emerged as the top scorer for the Foxies with 21 points, while Negrenses Alyssa Bertolano and Maicah Larroza as well as Rizza Cruz, Caitlyn Viray and Aprylle Tagsip also made notable contributions offensively.
Ivy Lacsina led the Power Chargers with 13 points, Negrense Christine Joy Soyud struggled with eight markers, while Mereophe Sharma ended with six points as they dropped to a 2-2 card./ASC, WDJ
